What is "My Badges" under your profile?

Under your member profile on the right-hand side, there is a "My Badges" column? 
 How is this going to be used? 
 Also, I noticed that I had a badge before, but now it is gone.

Would you vector "certification levels" and "successful projects" as visible elements in a community badge system? We can of course award points for engagements models like http://stackoverflow.com/help/badges or the well known system of SAP's SCN. Ultimately the content that somebody delivers needs to be credible for it to turn into value. 
 
We will certainly have a look at stack overflows model. We know from experience that once you get going, it needs to be future proof and solid. I can tell you that badges WILL be part of our strategy. Thanks for engaging. I rather design this with you than for you.
