2024 Subscription Activation Issue

I paid for my 2024 subscription, was informed that there was an "eLearning" program that I had to take part in (which I did), and this was done under the inference that I would need to complete the eLearning to officially activate my license, which I obtained on the 17th of February, I might add. However, my license is still inactive. Is there a way to quickly resolve this, as time lost is now crucial money lost.

Dear MultiTrans Customers,

As of 17 February 2025, the SDL MultiTrans Mobile app will be removed from the Apple AppStore.

This app shows requestors and providers their project statuses in a non-editable manner, but is most frequently used to provide MFA (multi-factor authentication) to these users.

The app will continue to work as normal despite being removed from the AppStore, and it will remain available through Google Play for those using Android devices. As MultiTrans reaches End of Life on 31 December 2025, we do not anticipate any significant need for new downloads; however, in the event a new user requires the app, please open a support ticket through the Gateway and a link to download the app will be provided.

We look forward to onboarding you to our latest technology offerings where MFA is also available.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for raising this discussion in the RWS Community forums.

The product you are referring to is most likely Trados GroupShare - and you raised the question in the MultiTrans forums. Do not worry about that, as I will do my best to provide you with the expected answer.

The Logi reporting engine is a 3rd party tool, which was used before Trados GroupShare 2020 SR1 CU09 versions, to display the Dashboard/Reporting details. Starting with the CU09 release of Trados GroupShare 2020 SR1, we use an in-house tool to display the Dashboard/Reporting details.

The solution is to update your Trados GroupShare application to a newer release, like CU13 (which is the latest one). The installation steps are detailed here: gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge

There is no other solution for your issue, but to update your Trados GroupShare application. There are no discussions with the Logi provider to renew the license.

Please note that the above issue does not affect the Trados GroupShare application functionality - only the Dashboard/Reporting information will no longer work.

Thanks! Yes, someone from RWS also just emailed me about it. What a shame. I had always wanted to try out MultiTrans as it seemed interesting. I hate it when this happens: one company buys another company's product and then shortly afterwards takes it off the market. :-(

I can't find any info anywhere about pricing. I would be interested in testing MultiTrans inside Trados Studio as a replacement for Studio's flaky term recognition. How much would this cost?

MultiTrans is no longer sold. I would recommend you post on the Studio forum with details about the issue you're having with term recognition, or test out a trial version of the new Studio 2024 release to see if your issue has been resolved.

Due to some security issues, I would need to restrict access to some of the textbases for a group of providers.

Is that possible?

We are currently using MultiTrans version 6.0.7103.1 and testing the version 7.0.23206.1

Yes this is possible through the use of Profiles. Here are a few links to some documentation which explains this in more detail:

To summarise, you can create a profile with more restrictive permissions and then assign that profile to all users who should have restricted access. Be wary of assigning multiple profiles to the same user - the most permissive profile will always take precedence.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Here are a couple of relevant help articles which I hope you'll find useful.

1. Disable the "LOCAL" database if you do not use TextBases/Termbases stored locally on your computer. If you do require access to local TextBases/Termbases, you can ignore this:

MultiTrans not responding after clicking on "Start Session"

Everytime I click on "Start Session" to use MultiTrans, the software stops responding and freezes. It can take up to 10 minutes before the software start responding again. It can take about 45 minutes to open the software entirely and have access to my TextBase and TermBase.

I use MultiTrans v.6.1.19128.3

We are a team of translators who are all using MultiTrans at work and we are all using the same version. I'm the only one with this issue. It's not a problem with my work computer either because I changed my laptop recently and I'm still having the same issue.

Hi Oliver,

The only current option for MultiTrans 2FA is through the MultiTrans Mobile app. Note that it's the device signature that's stored in MultiTrans, personal information does not need to be included.

2FA can be managed at both a Customer and a Requestor or Provider level if it's necessary to be disabled for a specific user.

Hi Shirley,

some of my colleagues don't want to install the MultiTrans mobile app on their smartphones (due to privacy reasons). Is there some other way to receive the MultiTrans token for 2FA? E.g. via a third party software like YubiKey (https://www.yubico.com/)? This will otherwise be a problem for those colleagues as they cannot log in to MultiTrans otherwise.

This has not yet been implemented and we do not have a planned timeline. There have been a number of updates that streamline the passing back and forth of tags and other usability issues however, so if you're using the standard integration, it would be worthwhile to upgrade to the latest version.

MultiTrans plug-in /TM provider for Trados Studio - unvalidated update

Hi there

I got several notices today to update my MultiTrans plug in for Trados Studio. I clicked to upgrade to version 3.1.2.0 and a reboot was required. After rebooting Trados issued a warning that the update had not been validated and should not be installed. So I clicked "No".

Can any one confirm this update is secure and tell me where I can go to confirm upgrades automatically if possible.

Could you confirm which version of Studio 2021 you're using? Go to Help > About Trados Studio, then the version will at the top of the popup window (e.g. "Trados Studio 2021 SR2 - 16.x.x.xxxx")

In any case, could you first try uninstalling the MultiTrans plugin as described in this article: https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0039435

Then download the plugin from the AppStore ( https://appstore.sdl.com/language/list/sdl-trados-studio/last-updated/?search=MultiTrans ) and re-install it by double-clicking the ".sdlplugin" file once it's downloaded.

Let me know if this solves the issue

Important notice re. Apache Log4j Vulnerability

Dear clients,

A critical vulnerability was discovered in Log4j, a widely used Apache logging framework. This library is used in applications worldwide, including MultiTrans, which is vulnerable to exploitation of this Apache bug.

We encourage all customers to mitigate the risk immediately as follows.

RWS hosted customers: RWS is handling the mitigation directly. You may be notified if a restart of your server is required.
On-premise (self-hosted) customers: Please take the following steps as soon as possible.

Steps to mitigate this vulnerability:

Stop the MultiTrans Flow service.
Add the parameter -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true to –JvmOptions in C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\service_install.bat.
Copy the attached xml file to C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\JBoss - EWS\share\apache-tomcat-X.X.XX\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes, where X.X.XX is the precise Apache Tomcat version number you have installed. [View:/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/495/log4j2.xml:900:600]
Run as administrator the service_remove.bat file at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\.
Run as administrator the previously edited service_install.bat at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\.
Start the MultiTrans Flow service.

You can validate that the above steps were successful by monitoring the log file at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\runtime\logs\error.log. The following will appear:

INFO [main] org.apache.catalina.startup.VersionLoggerListener.log Command line argument: -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true

This configuration change will be added by default to the January release of MultiTrans 7.0, therefore following that release, MultiTrans will not be susceptible to this exploit. The Java framework in MultiTrans will also be upgraded in the January release for security purposes.

The Log4J library will be updated in a future release of MultiTrans, following a full investigation of the ramifications of this upgrade.
