2024 Subscription Activation Issue

I paid for my 2024 subscription, was informed that there was an "eLearning" program that I had to take part in (which I did), and this was done under the inference that I would need to complete the eLearning to officially activate my license, which I obtained on the 17th of February, I might add. However, my license is still inactive. Is there a way to quickly resolve this, as time lost is now crucial money lost.

Dear MultiTrans Customers,

As of 17 February 2025, the SDL MultiTrans Mobile app will be removed from the Apple AppStore.

This app shows requestors and providers their project statuses in a non-editable manner, but is most frequently used to provide MFA (multi-factor authentication) to these users.

The app will continue to work as normal despite being removed from the AppStore, and it will remain available through Google Play for those using Android devices. As MultiTrans reaches End of Life on 31 December 2025, we do not anticipate any significant need for new downloads; however, in the event a new user requires the app, please open a support ticket through the Gateway and a link to download the app will be provided.

We look forward to onboarding you to our latest technology offerings where MFA is also available.

I can't find any info anywhere about pricing. I would be interested in testing MultiTrans inside Trados Studio as a replacement for Studio's flaky term recognition. How much would this cost?

Can I restrict access to textbases to some of the providers?

MultiTrans not responding after clicking on "Start Session"

Everytime I click on "Start Session" to use MultiTrans, the software stops responding and freezes. It can take up to 10 minutes before the software start responding again. It can take about 45 minutes to open the software entirely and have access to my TextBase and TermBase.

I use MultiTrans v.6.1.19128.3

We are a team of translators who are all using MultiTrans at work and we are all using the same version. I'm the only one with this issue. It's not a problem with my work computer either because I changed my laptop recently and I'm still having the same issue.

MultiTrans plug-in /TM provider for Trados Studio - unvalidated update

Hi there

I got several notices today to update my MultiTrans plug in for Trados Studio. I clicked to upgrade to version 3.1.2.0 and a reboot was required. After rebooting Trados issued a warning that the update had not been validated and should not be installed. So I clicked "No".

Can any one confirm this update is secure and tell me where I can go to confirm upgrades automatically if possible.

Important notice re. Apache Log4j Vulnerability

A critical vulnerability was discovered in Log4j, a widely used Apache logging framework. This library is used in applications worldwide, including MultiTrans, which is vulnerable to exploitation of this Apache bug.

We encourage all customers to mitigate the risk immediately as follows.

RWS hosted customers: RWS is handling the mitigation directly. You may be notified if a restart of your server is required.
On-premise (self-hosted) customers: Please take the following steps as soon as possible.

Steps to mitigate this vulnerability:

Stop the MultiTrans Flow service.
Add the parameter -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true to –JvmOptions in C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\service_install.bat.
Copy the attached xml file to C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\JBoss - EWS\share\apache-tomcat-X.X.XX\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes, where X.X.XX is the precise Apache Tomcat version number you have installed. uat.community.rws.com/.../log4j2.xml
Run as administrator the service_remove.bat file at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\.
Run as administrator the previously edited service_install.bat at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\.
Start the MultiTrans Flow service.

You can validate that the above steps were successful by monitoring the log file at C:\Program Files\Donnelley\MultiTrans Flow 64\runtime\logs\error.log. The following will appear:

INFO [main] org.apache.catalina.startup.VersionLoggerListener.log Command line argument: -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true

This configuration change will be added by default to the January release of MultiTrans 7.0, therefore following that release, MultiTrans will not be susceptible to this exploit. The Java framework in MultiTrans will also be upgraded in the January release for security purposes.

The Log4J library will be updated in a future release of MultiTrans, following a full investigation of the ramifications of this upgrade.

New feature - Custom customer invoices

A new feature will be available with the new MultiTrans release that is coming out this August. It will be possible to generate custom customer invoices based on flexible templates which can include your logos, most standard and custom fields and more. A separate installer is required.

Auto-Align Scheduler asking for Admin. Credentials to Run After Successful Install

Trados Studio plugin - "Language mapping not found" error when opening a package

If you use the MultiTrans plugin for Studio, you may get an error when opening a MultiTrans package which says Language mapping not found. This is usually caused by not having a Trados Code assigned to a language in the Administration Console.

Today, I am contacting you as member of the steering committee of European Trados User Group (ETUG).

Since 2002, the ETUG has been a forum for users of SDL translation tools, allowing them to meet other users, exchange their experiences with the SDL tools and get to know other users' translation workflows and solutions. The forum works together with SDL to improve the SDL products in such a way that all users benefit the most. Members are able to receive privileged information from SDL concerning new products and support.

We currently have over 80 member organisations, each having a significant number of users, and therefore able to present a strong influence in our interactions with SDL. Members represent many different industries, international and government organisations as well as translation agencies. They have a good working knowledge of the SDL tools and have often developed their own processes and workflows incorporating these tools.

We hold an annual conference to promote the exchange of information between SDL users. SDL representatives (including product managers) are present throughout the conference, giving members the opportunity to ask questions and obtain information on the newest SDL developments.
The ETUG conference is different from other SDL roadshows or conference since no sales persons are present. It is organised by the users, for the users.

Since the MultiTrans suite of tools now belongs to the SDL portfolio, we would be happy to welcome MultiTrans users as new ETUG members.

All companies or organizations that use SDL translation tools intensively and on a large scale are eligible to become members of the ETUG. As a rule of thumb, this means they should employ server products. Guest speakers are often invited to the annual conference to present new interesting topics that could benefit the ETUG members.

How to provide a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) in the MultiTrans Licensing Utility

Hi all,

When a MultiTrans Client retrieves a license from a MultiTrans Server, it uses the address defined in the License Server Definition field of the MultiTrans Licensing Utility program to locate the license server.

Currently this License Server Definition field only accepts an IP address (e.g. @1.2.3.4 ) or a hostname (e.g. @nameofserver ). In some environments it may be necessary to provide a fully qualified domain name (e.g. @server.mydomain.com ), but there is a bug in the Licensing Utility program which prevents you from entering a server address in this format.

The following knowledge base article explains how you can work around this limitation of the Licensing Utility and provide a fully-qualified domain as the address of the license server:

Visibility of MultiTrans Product Roadmap / Showcases

Hello,

Would it be possible to get some visibility into the MultiTrans Product roadmap - short / medium / long term development?

I appreciate that development sprints will change, but it would be really useful to get a feel for what the current development priorities are and what are the key areas that are being worked on. At the moment we contribute feature requests and ideas but have to wait until release notes to see if anything made it in. We're all for sharing our expertise and ideas to help benefit the product.

Also, it would be great if there were more 'product showcases' done through webinars, or at least recorded videos that are shared on the community.

If Flow is part of your environment and you would like to change the admin password, it is important to note that it needs to be updated in two places: the MultiTrans settings in Flow and through the Admin Console. MultiTrans missing main screen options when launching client

There have been a few reported incidents where after installing or reinstalling the MultiTrans client, the application will start on a what seems like a blank screen without the main screen options.
