Studio Subtitling plugin throws fatal error

I had to restart my machine and when I tried to open Trados 2024 again, I am getting this error message.

"Unexpected exception when creating view part control for view part Fragment Matches"

Before I restarted, I was translating a SRT file using the Trados Subtitling plugin. But after restarting, when I open the SRT file in the Editor, I cannot work on it. The Confirm segment menu item, and others, are no longer available. I have uninstalled the plugin and I am now translating the SRT file without the plugin, but I'd like to re-install it because I miss the functionality. I am using Trados Studio 2024 - 18.0.1.2259.

Any suggestions?

Trados Studio crashes constantly and for apparently no reason when translating SRT files

Dear colleagues,

Every time I translate SRT files in Trados Studio, after a while of work (or sometimes even when I just confirmed the first segment), Trados crashes, freezes and closes.

This crash usually happens just after confirming a segment, but it has also occurred while I was just modifying a segment. I looked up on the Internet to see if anyone else has had the same problem, but I could not find any help.

My Trados version is Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.11.19134, and I do not use the Subtitling plugin (the cons of using it outweighed the pros).

I translate several other filetypes in Trados, but so far, I only have had this recurrent problem with SRT files, so I guess it might have something to do with it. I already tried repairing Trados installation, but this buggy behavior keeps happening.

Does anyone know what could I do to prevent this behavior?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I clicked "Deactivate All" in the Trados License Manager for licenses that are no longer needed, but I received a pop-up message as shown in the screenshot below.

Additionally, is there a way to delete the cached license data registered in the Trados License Manager?

File type error: Subtitles vs SubRip

I am working on an EN->JP subtitle project that seems to have been created using the file type "SubRip v 1.0.0.0".

However, I cannot find this file type in my Trados Studio 2024 (version 18.0.0.1013) on Windows 11 Home (Japanese).

The only subtitle file type listed under Options - File Types is "Subtitles v 1.0.0.0".

Because of this, I am unable to use the "Save Target As" function to create a .srt file to verify my translations.

I would appreciate it if you could advise me on how to resolve this issue.

Reference video mp4 file won't show in preview

We upgraded to Studio 2022 for easier subtitling capabilities, but can't make it work.

We've

Added the subtitle plugin

Added the subtitle filetypes

Created a new project, added.an srt file and mp4 reference file

Opened the files, clicked on Subtitling Preview and added the media path

... but it only ever displays a black screen.

You can 'play' the empty 'video' and it syncs to the text, but the video itself is never visible.

There are no pending updates in trados.

The plugins are newly installed.

We've tried multiple times with different files, but always the same result.

Anyone know why?

Hello,

I have been trying unsuccessfully to download the Studio Subtitling plugin. Every time I click to download it and restart Trados, it just disappears, I can't even find the file location anywhere and the download never finishes.

On top of that, since trying to download SS, I can't open Studio 2022 anymore. I get the following error message every time: SDL.Desktop.Platform.CommandBars.IActionService

Please help!! I have a few urgent projects to finish!

srt files not recognized

Hello,

I am struggling with subtitles file in .srt.

I have downloaded the app Studio Subtitling and trying to create a project, but Trados keeps me saying that is does not recognize the .srt file.

I tried renaming it, and with another .srt file I know it works in another CAT tool...

By the past I have translated .srt files in older Trados versions.

It's said in the Studio subtitling app that Trados 21/22 supports .srt out of the box.

It's kind of that every new update, we get a new issue.

Can you help me solve this new issue?

After I consider better to start a new one.

I have stl files from a client. I installed both plugin for STL and Studio Subtitling. I restarted Studio after (three times) and the formats appear on the list of type of files. But Studio asks for a translatable file.

Letters count /characters count in BYTE count in Studio 2022

Dear all,

I am on Studio 2022, we see letter counts of the translating strings, at the right bottom corner of the panel (and most probably other earlier version as well), with the abbreviation of "Chars: XX"

I am Translating EN -> JP, where the target language is the Double-byte characters,

E,g, は , this alphabet in my language looks like 1 character visually and counted as 1 character accordingly on Studio 2022, but it actually consumes 2 bytes, equivalent to 2 Latin alphabets (= Double byte, or we say Double/Full Width)

When translating the subtitle file, it is rather important sometimes how many BYTEs consumed per strings, to know this, I need to export the translation and use MS Excel to count with LENB function (note that this is LENB, not LEN)

I wonder if I could switch the counting formula on Studio 2022, currently it counts letter counts only (equivalent to LEN in Excel) but I want to make it BYTE counts (equivalent to LENB in excel).

I think this function if possible, is helpfull to any of the any non-Latin language users including e.g. CHN, TWN, THA, LAO, BRM, KHM, etc... I searched the community and plug-ins but could not reach to the solution, if any good idea, please advise,

Further, if there would be any plug-ins to warn the translated-strings whose letter count is over/longer than any specified letter limits, that would also be greatly a help. Please advise if any,

No video replay

Hello,

I am unable to get the video replay to work in a subtitling project.

After specifying the path, the Subtitling Preview window remains blank (black) and the video timeline goes from 0:00:00 to 0:00:00.

If I check the “Show Audio Waveform” option, I can see individual subtitles. All three - waveform, subtitling data and the actual translation window – remain in sync.

There’s just no sound and no video.

I have tried a complete reinstall, to no avail.

Any help will be much appreciated

I am a reviser working on revising subtitles. I do not seem to be able to split a sentence which has too many charcaters to be on one line (I need to keep one line up to 42 characters per line, 2 lines permitted).

Just "enter" does not work.

Hello, everything looks fine when the vtt is loading, but then there appears an error message:

Studio Subtitling - Verification (CPS/CPL/WPS/number of lines) not working

Hello

I have been working with Subtitling - SubRip files for several months without any issue. Today, trying to reopen Studio after the Christmas break, the Subtitling part of verification (anything linked to subtitle length) is not working (not showing warnings and error). I have opened project and file settings, checked that all verification parameters were correct and ticked in subtitling, as well as in given language pair.

Any idea on how I can fix this?

Help! SRT file format no longer showing under file types

I had this working fine yesterday, but I booted up Trados today and the SRT file type is missing in my file list even though it's showing the plugin as installed. Likewise, whenever I uninstall and reinstall the plugin, which I have done several times (rebooting Trados each time), I'm not getting the "new file type available" notification anymore. Please help!

Does anyone has a workaround to translate onscreen text that can be found in the so called "nested sequences" in Premiere Pro? Is there any way (available tool) to export these?
