How do I apply previous TM to a new project?

Question

Hi there, I'm wondering how to do this? I'm currently importing the TM from my Desktop even though I used it with my last project...how can I just re-add it? Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert, 
 Just go to your Project Settings and add the SDLTM you created before. So just connect to it. No need to import it all over again. Make sure you tick all the boxes too... especially the update one at the end if you want to save translations into this TM: 
 
 You can set this up to be a default TM for all projects if you add it to the same place through File -> Options instead of Project Settings .

Hi Robert, 
 In the screenshot I showed just click on Add -> File-based Translation Memory and you'll be able to select your SDLTM (wherever you saved it) and it will be added. 
 Or am I missing the point of your question?

At the risk of stating the obvious did you upgrade it to an SDLTM? If not then you either change the wildcard in Studio to look for all files and not just SDLTM when you select your file-based TM and then this will kick off the upgrade process to create the SDLTM, or you upgrade the TMX first using the Upgrade TM feature in your Translation Memories View. 
 
Or, if you already have a TM and would like to incorporate this into your existing TM, then import the TMX to your existing TM rather than add the TMX as a new one.
