I have raised a support case to validate further:  00807333  but I suspect a bug will need to be raised against SR1.

In the meantime you do know you can merge files after the project has been created just by selecting the ones you wish to merge and open them?

And if you merge because you wish to share a file then try using studioViews (from the appstore) as you may find this offers more useful functionality for sharing and working with others. 

Merging files when creating the project is quite a rigid approach.

I am not sure if you actually read at the top what I use merging files for. I have a client who routinely translates hundreds of XML files, some of them containing just a few words. Is there a better way to handle this? I can see only two approaches - merging files or exporting unknown segments, but the latter is somewhat unpredictable as content often ends up mixed up and not in sequence.

Yes I did... not that that makes any difference.  You just want to merge files. So using studioViews you can do that at any time.  If you only wish to merge for your own use then simply open them all in one go when you work on them.  

I don't see any problems here so was just suggesting some alternatives as you don't need to merge them all when you create your project.

Thank you Paul, I will give this a try an the next opportunity. But also … let's not get distracted from restoring the much loved functionality of "check all" box. Unless, this is some unintentional bug, I can't see why anyone would remove this on purpose.

You've been given a CRQ number for this already.

I just wanted to give you what I reckon is a better solution anyway!  Me suggesting this won't change the fact there is a bug in the way you seem determined to work despite alternatives.

Besides that none of my teams would work on it anyway!!

I must say the functionality to open multiple files for editing is quite neat! It certainly adds flexibility. I've been familiar with SDLX and then Trados for nearly 20 years and I have no idea how I missed this. I thought I knew most of what there is to know about Trados (from the user's perspective, I mean) but you surprised me there :-)

I am curious - is there a merged file created somewhere, some file in local temp folder? Well, there must be, but the files are clearly saved individually. Very interesting!
