I have a problem launching MultiTerm 2024. I've tried everything that has been suggested in the forum:

- Changing the name to 'Multiterm18_old'.

- Uninstalling and installing the program several times.

- Changing the name of the file coresettings.xml to settings.xml

- Running the program as an administrator.

- Repairing the program in the Uninstall programs folder.

- Changing the location of the folder when installing it.

- And adding the program to my antivirus whitelist.

Before Multiterm crushed, I tried adding some functions from Create Ribbons, I think it's called. I added them in the Termbases sections and, when I closed the program, it stopped working.

I don't know what else to do to launch the program and have access to the dashboard.

Could you help me with a new unthought solution? Thank you!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of MultiTerm you are using and any specific error messages you encounter when trying to launch the application.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello! It sounds like you've already taken several thorough steps to troubleshoot the issue with MultiTerm 2024. Here’s a structured approach to try and resolve the problem further:

**Step 1:** Ensure all RWS applications are closed, including any background processes related to MultiTerm.

**Step 2:** Navigate to the following folder on your computer:

`C:\Users\Your User Name\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Multi Term`

(Replace "Your User Name" with your actual Windows username.)

**Step 3:** Rename the folder corresponding to your MultiTerm version (e.g., "Multi Term17" for MultiTerm 2022) to something like "Multi Term17_old".

**Step 4:** Check for any XML files in that folder, particularly `Settings.xml`, `Base Settings.xml`, `Plugincache.xml`, and `User Settings.xml`. Rename these files by adding "_OLD" to their names.

**Step 5:** Restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.

**Step 6:** Launch MultiTerm again, preferably using "Run as Administrator" by right-clicking the application icon.

**Step 7:** If the issue persists, consider reinstalling MultiTerm. Uninstall it via Control Panel, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest version from the RWS website.

**Step 8:** If you recently added functions from Create Ribbons, it might be worth resetting any custom settings or checking if those changes are causing the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, please provide any specific error messages you encounter, as this will help in diagnosing the issue further.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

Were you already working on this project when you updated Studio/MultiTerm?

If you create a new project, do you still observe the same behaviour?

Where are your Termbases saved? Locally or in the cloud?

Term recognition has always been tricky. I recommend reorganizing the termbase on a regular basis (remove it from your Project Settings and close Trados before reorganizing).

Maybe it would be helpful to have a look at the search settings under Project Settings > Language Pairs > Termbases > Search Settings and play with the Overlapping Terms option.

The issue of Multiterm not displaying hits in the editor window top right corner can be resolved by reorganizing the termbase - Reorganizing a file-based or server-based termbase - RWS Customer Support.

This process cleans up the index-related data and can help in displaying the results again. If the reorganization does not resolve the issue, it may be due to security suites blocking access to necessary index and fuzzy match files. In such cases, adding the file type extensions to the security suite and restarting the PC can help recreate the index and fuzzy match files.

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide the exact error message you are receiving, along with any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with MultiTerm 2019. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the "An Error has Occurred" message when trying to enter new terms in your termbase:

**Step 1:** **Check for Updates**

- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. You can do this by searching for "Check for updates" in Windows Search and installing any pending updates.

**Step 2:** **Repair MultiTerm and Trados Studio**

- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Find SDL MultiTerm and SDL Trados Studio, right-click on each, and select "Repair." This can fix any corrupted files that may be causing the issue.

**Step 3:** **Simplify File Path**

- If your termbase is saved in a complex folder path or contains special characters, try moving it to a simpler location on your C:\ drive and renaming it to remove any special characters.

**Step 4:** **Reset MultiTerm Settings**

- Close MultiTerm. Navigate to `C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL MultiTerm` and rename the folder corresponding to your version (e.g., rename `Multiterm15` for MultiTerm 2019). This will reset your settings.

**Step 5:** **Recreate the Termbase**

- If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider recreating the termbase. You can follow the instructions provided in the article linked in your context.

**Step 6:** **Check Network Connection**

- If your termbase is on a shared network, ensure that your internet connection is stable and that you have the necessary permissions to access the termbase.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please provide the exact error message you are receiving and any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about any error messages received, the exact version of MultiTerm being used, and clarify if you have administrative access to the termbase settings.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello,

It seems you're experiencing issues with entry numbers being greyed out in MultiTerm 2022. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

**Step 1:** Verify Access Rights

Ensure that you have sufficient access rights to edit the termbase. You can check this by contacting your MultiTerm administrator or reviewing your user role assignment in the Trados GroupShare web UI.

**Step 2:** Check for Locks

If another user is currently editing the entry, it will be locked for you. Wait until they finish their work. If you suspect the entry is locked but no one is editing it, you may need to unlock it through the MultiTerm Administrator.

**Step 3:** Search for Entry Number

To search for a specific entry number, type the entry number in the search box and press [Ctrl]+[G] or select Search > Go to Entry Number from the menu. If the entry is found, it should display in the entry pane.

**Step 4:** Reorganize or Recreate the Termbase

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider reorganizing your termbase through the MultiTerm Desktop application. If that doesn't work, you may need to recreate the termbase, ensuring that you avoid using special characters in its name.

**Step 5:** Upgrade Software

If you are using an older version of MultiTerm, consider upgrading to the latest build, as this may resolve any underlying defects.

If you continue to experience issues, please provide additional details such as any error messages you receive, the exact version of MultiTerm you are using, and whether you have administrative access to the termbase settings.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of MultiTerm you are using and any recent changes made to your system or termbase settings.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello,

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with MultiTerm. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the error message you're receiving when trying to delete a term:

**Step 1:** **Check Access Rights**

Ensure that you have the appropriate access rights to delete terms from the termbase. If you're unsure, consult your MultiTerm administrator to confirm your permissions.

**Step 2:** **Clear Cache**

Try clearing the cache of your application. Sometimes, cached data can cause unexpected behavior.

**Step 3:** **Update MultiTerm**

Make sure you are using the latest version of MultiTerm. If you are using MultiTerm 2017, consider updating to the latest cumulative update (CU06) as this issue was addressed in that version.

**Step 4:** **Rename Termbase**

If your termbase name contains special characters or underscores, try renaming it to remove these characters. This can sometimes resolve issues related to termbase functionality.

**Step 5:** **Recreate the Termbase**

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider recreating the termbase. Follow the instructions in the article you referenced to ensure that you import data correctly.

**Step 6:** **Batch Delete**

If you need to delete multiple terms, you can use the Batch Delete feature in MultiTerm. Just be aware that this process can take some time depending on the number of entries.

**Step 7:** **Check for Locks**

Ensure that no other users are currently editing the entries you wish to delete. If another user is editing, you may need to wait until they finish.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please provide additional details such as the exact version of MultiTerm you are using and any recent changes made to your system or termbase settings. This information will help in diagnosing the problem more effectively.
