Language Selection Croatian (HR-HR) in MultiTerm

I am using MultTerm 2022 SR2 17.2.5.2838. My installation does not allow me to select Croatian as a language for my termbase. The only option I have is Serbo-croatian which does not match the project settings in Trados Studio. I found that this issue was addressed years ago ( RE: Croatian language code ) and wondered, if it has been solved.

Converted .sdltb to .ttb Termbase Fails to Open in MultiTerm 2026 Desktop | Critical

Hello everyone,

I used the MultiTerm Termbase Migration Tool to convert my .sdltb termbase files to .ttb format.

The conversion process completed successfully without any errors and the I could open the converted termbase in Trados Studio 2026. However, when I try to open the converted .ttb files in MultiTerm 2026 Desktop, I receive the following error message:

"This termbase cannot be opened because it has been created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm."

I have attached a video below showing the exact error message and the steps leading to it. It seems that MultiTerm 2026 Desktop may need an immediate update to address this issue.

MT 2026: MultiTerm Exporter is cool, but it does not convert TTB to SDLTB

So how to convert TTB to SDLTB for users of earlier versions of Trados Studio? I see, that the termbases will be converted when creating a project package. But this is only possible in TS Pro, how about users of other versions?

Hello,

I have terms on Multiterm like this one below. It's visible, when I click on it it's highlighted but another term is displayed. And it is not visible on Trados termbase. I cannot delete it. When I try to add the same term, it recognizes the other one and asks me to duplicate or fusion and then gives error message. I reorganized the termbase but nothing changes. Can someone help me out?

Issues with Terbase and WSXZ packages

I am contacting you again because the issue with termbases in Trados Studio 2024 has still not been resolved.

I recently moved my Trados license to a new computer and since then I have been experiencing several issues related to MultiTerm and termbase integration.

The current problem is that when I try to open Project Settings in order to add or manage a termbase, Trados displays the following error message:

Value cannot be null. Parameter name: key - Please see below the different error messages with different projects

As a result, I am unable to add termbases to my projects. This affects both existing projects and my ability to work normally with terminology resources.

Also, I can not open a Wordserver package - when I click to open the package it opens Trados but not the project without any error messages.

Please contact me asap as I have to travel for work and I am struggling with these issues for more than a week now.

Why Trados studio 2021 is not detecting or reading my Termbase after normal working several years?

Error "Object reference not set an instance of an object". I tried reset Studio 2021 with " _old", but all is the same.

ich möchte Sie bitten, mir bei Lösung folgender Probleme zu helfen.

Nachdem ich Trados Studio 2022 (Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.12.19268) und 2024 (Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657) auf einem neuen Laptop mit Windows 11 installiert habe, kann ich weder bestehende TBs verwenden, noch eine neue TB erstellen.

Ich bekomme verschiedene Fehlermeldungen, wie z.B.:

- Eine externe Komponente hat eine Ausnahme ausgelöst.

- Der Wert darf nicht NULL sein. Parametername: Key

- MultiTerm kann die Terminologiedatenbank nicht erstellen.

- Failed to create setting page.

- General error occurred MultiTerm kann das Multimedia-Objekt nicht abrufen.

Solche Probleme treten bei Trados Studio 2022 auf dem alten Laptop mit Windows 10 nicht auf. Dort funktioniert alles.

Für Ihre Hilfe wäre ich sehr dankbar.

il semblerait que le lien entre mon projet et la base terminologique soit rompu de facon aleatoire. j'ai le message "aucun resultat disponible" alors que lorsque je vais dans ma base, j'ai bien des termes qui figurent

Terms sometimes added only on second attempt?

I sometime encounter a problem in Multiterm (2024, but it happened in 2021 as well) that terms aren't added to the database at the first go. I need to add the term again a second time and then the term is shown twice in the Term Recognition pane. This doesn't happen always, the behaviour is very inconsistently. Any ideas why this might happen? (Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657).Currently, the MultiTerm database was added new in Studio 2024 at the start of the project and only contains 20 -30 terms.

Dear community,

I hope someone here will be able to help me, since the IT-people from the agency I work with couldn't help me with this problem so far. I had to reinstall Trados 2022 on a new computer (Windows 11) and since then, the termbase recognition doesn't work anymore. Every time I open a project, the translation memory works perfectly, but the termbase is automatically deactivated with a message telling me it's impossible to establish a connexion to the termbase and the term recognition can't be used for this termbase. I've tried a few tricks found on Community Knowledge pages (which don't seem to work anymore though, I just tried to access the page again), but nothing helped. Has anyone encountered the same problem or has any idea how to resolve it? I'd be super grateful!

Failed to initalize view 'MultiTerm.Studio.EditorView'

Hi! I have a problem launching MultiTerm 2024. I've tried everything that has been suggested in the forum:

- Changing the name to 'Multiterm18_old'.

- Uninstalling and installing the program several times.

- Changing the name of the file coresettings.xml to settings.xml

- Running the program as an administrator.

- Repairing the program in the Uninstall programs folder.

- Changing the location of the folder when installing it.

- And adding the program to my antivirus whitelist.

Before Multiterm crushed, I tried adding some functions from Create Ribbons, I think it's called. I added them in the Termbases sections and, when I closed the program, it stopped working.

I don't know what else to do to launch the program and have access to the dashboard.

Could you help me with a new unthought solution? Thank you!

.sdltb Termbase Not Visible or Opening in MultiTerm

I recently upgraded from Trados Studio 2021 to 2024. When I try to open a termbase in Multiterm, the window appears blank and doesn’t show any files, even though there are .sdltb files in the designated folder.

If I change the file type filter to “All files,” the .sdltb file becomes visible. However, when I try to open it, I get an error message saying: “This termbase cannot be opened because it has been created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm.”

The language pair is English–Chinese.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this?

adding new terms to Multiterm

Hello,

I added new terms to my termbase, but some of them are not displayed while others are displayed in the Editor. I can see all of them in MultiTerm, but not all in the Editor.

I tried to add them in the Editor and in MultiTerm separately, and it is the same terms causing the problem (no special characters and no particular subject field issue).

Can someone help?

Hi, I have a problem with Multiterm today. I got an error message from it saying I lost the connection with Multiterm Server, but I actually do not have a termbased Server. I do not have Termbased Server in Trados neither and I already tried to solve the problem renaiming the file. Could you please help me?

I have been having issues with Multiterm 2019 for some time. Firstly, I cannot connect termbases to Studio projects, despite being able to do so previously, and when I try to create a termbase and populate it with terms, I receive "An Error has Occurred" message. Can anyone help please?

Multiterm Trados 2024 and Excel import issue

with Trados 2024, having prepared a customer provided Excel, after having removed unnecessary characters such as < and > etc., and after downloading Multiterm App and plug-in from RWS App store, and having tried to load the termbase file, the hits that should appear on the top right corner of the editor view still refuse to be shown... Any suggestions, all help is appreciated.

I cannot find any responses to solve this problem

Unknown error message when trying to delete a term in Multiterm: An error occurred when deleting the term cache

One of my termbases won't show or update terms that I add. When trying to delete questionable terms in Multiterm, I receive the unknown message 'An error occurred when deleting the term cache'. I have no idea how to solve this so that I can remove terms from the database. MultiTerm 2021 Desktop (version 16.2.1.1044).

Update: I was able to remove the questionable terms in Trados Studio 2021, by opening the termbase viewer and deleting some terms. It seems that terms with either notes or definitions added by me were causing the error. By removing these terms I am now able to add new terms, but I would like to know if and why these definitions or notes cause this error.

To clarify my question/suggestion, I am NOT referring to one-to-many term entries, but rather to one-to-one term entries stored in the TB in the following way:

good (EN) : gut| (DE)
all (EN) : all| (DE)

My question was whether, by storing the term only once in this form, Trados can recognize the same German word across its various inflected forms without having to register each form separately.

For example, would the TB recognize the following as the same term without individual entries?

gut → guter, gute, gutes, gutem, guten
all → aller, alle, alles, allem, allen

In German translation, not only adjectives and verb forms but also indefinitas and noun singular/plural forms and case inflections (nominative, genitive, dative, accusative) result in many surface variants of the same lemma.
If the CAT tool cannot recognize these as the same term, we would need to register the same word 6–7 times in the TB, which would significantly increase workload and also cause considerable inconvenience during QA.

That is why I wanted to ask whether Trados provides a function to handle this kind of inflectional variation automatically.

Good evening here in Europe,

See error stack attached. I get this when trying to add a single FR (France, I think? But they mustn't be locale-sensitive, normally) to ENUK termbase to our FRCH to ENUK project, i.e. doing it one at a time, extra carefully.

This termbase was created using a recent version of MultiTerm. I get this when trying to add other termbases of the same locale, too.

I'm experiencing a recurring issue when trying to open or use MultiTerm from Trados Studio. The following error appears:

“No se puede convertir el objeto COM del tipo 'Sdl.MultiTerm.TMO.Interop.TermbaseRepositoryClass' al tipo de interfaz 'Sdl.MultiTerm.TMO.Interop.ITermbaseRepository'. Ocurrió un error de operación debido a que la llamada QueryInterface en el componente COM para la interfaz con IID '{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}' generó el siguiente error: Interfaz no compatible (Excepción de HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).”

In English:

“Cannot convert COM object ‘TermbaseRepositoryClass’ to interface ‘ITermbaseRepository’. QueryInterface failed with error 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE).”

My environment:

Windows 10

Trados Studio version 2022

MultiTerm version 2022

Suddenly no connection on MultiTerm

Hello, I suddenly stopped having access to termbases.

In the past two weeks, I tried to access termbases provided via GroupShare, but there is no connection (there is no error message on Trados, the TB just has a red X sign). I can access Translation Memories on server, using the same connection.

However, I also tried today to access an offline TB that is saved locally on my computer, and still MultiTerm prevents me from opening it due to a server error. This file doesn't need the server!

This is the message displayed when I try to open this offline TB on MultiTerm. I have just updated MultiTerm to the most recent version available and the error persists.

Could someone please assist?

Hello,

Although this used to work smoothly, but for some reason, when trying to create a new termbase --> create a new termbase definition from scratch -->adding language fields (En & Ar) --> Next till ending the wizard since there are not descriptive fields. This used to work all the time. However, now the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is appearing.

I closed the converter, multiterm desktop and trados, then repeated the steps and still facing the same issue.

Any guided help is highly appreciated.
