Hi,

Here are a few examples from my workflow that might give you some ideas:

1. Text Editing

Simpler Shortcuts: remap complex default shortcuts, like using just Shift+Space for non-breaking spaces.
Lowercase Segment: convert the entire current segment to lowercase instantly.

2. Segment Actions

Quick Status Changes: use Numpad keys to set a segment's status (Translated, Approved, etc.) and move to the next one in a single action.

3. Search & Filtering

External Filtering: select a term in another app (Excel, XBench, Firefox...) and press a hotkey to automatically apply it as a filter inside Trados.
Quick Filter Menu: open the filter's dropdown menu, or filter by selected text.

4. Automation

Punctuation Mirror: checks the source segment's final punctuation and automatically applies it to the target segment (useful for fuzzy editing).
Sentence Pasting: takes a block of text from the clipboard and pastes it into Trados one segment at a time.

Hi Jack,

I have one that does what I think you are requesting. Once you've copied your multiple lines, go to the first segment in Trados editor and click the triggering keys (ctrl+alt+shift+F4). If nothing happens, you may have to change (or remove) the #IfWinActive values depending on you Studio version.

Oh, and I'd recommend disabling all TMs and termbases from your project before running it, that way it will run smoother.

I see your point. Not sure I agree with you though. I'm paying for this program and I do think there are too many bugs in it that slows me down, not just this minor one, but sometimes really serious issues that take hours or days to resolve.

Hi folks
Does anyone know how to stop the Find/Replace dialog box from always being displayed on top?

In Studio 2017 when you clicked on another window/program the Find/Replace dialog box would then be in the background, below the clicked window/program and no longer in the way. In Studio 2022 it is always in the way (on top) so I either have to move it out of the way, or close it then open it again next time I need it.

This happens in Windows 10 and 11 so presumably it's something to do with Studio 2022. I recently updated Studio, no change.

Any ideas?

The Studio Find/Replace dialog box is always on top of any other window such as the browser as shown in this pic, also if I click in the browser window.

It's the only dialog box that does this. In Word for example the Search/Replace box goes to the background when clicking on Studio (or another program) and is displayed in the foreground when you click on Word again.

Those seconds are at one with my thought processes, automatic and efficient. I'm very tidy-minded on computers and phone, I automatically close things the minute I no longer need them then open again when they're needed, and as I have made it an automatic part of how I work, it happens very fast. I prefer to avoid the risk of errors that can be triggered by having lots of windows/dialogs unnecessarily open.

I also like to make the best use of all the software I work with, preferring to learn the positives that are available with each program rather than rebel against the programmers' work. Especially with software that is as developed according to the balance of users' requests and requirements as Trados is.

Yes (sorry, I know I'm stating the obvious) there is a way... Just close the dialog via 'Close' or 'x' or, even easier, by using the Esc key. This has always been my habit.

It only takes a second to open again when you need it. I prefer this over forgetting it's open when I don't need it, or losing it behind other windows.

Just my opinion...

I don’t think the script from AI will work and Idon’t think any script will work reliably.

You can speed things up if you select a shorcut to quickly get go to File > Options, such as my ALT+ENTER shortcut:

If you need Auto-propagation often, Trados Studio will open the same page across consecutive ALT+ENTER calls, so I think the old way should be very fast.

In my opinion, the best way would be to use the empty status bar at the bottom of the app to quickly enable/disable features like Auto-propagation, AutoCorrect and change the active dictionary. You can add this idea here Trados Studio Ideas so other peers can vote it up and then RWS may consider implementing it.

Trados Studio 2024. I regularly receive some large files where the CM is corrupted and the client does not want to clean up the TM. I need to toggle Autopropagation on and off quickly. Studio does not have a shortcut set up to do this, and going into Options every time is time consuming. Does anyone have an AutoHotKey script available? Many thanks.
