I want to try out AI Bridge with Trados Connected AI. I'm signed in to Trados Cloud, AI Bridge is activated, but in Studio nothing happens in the segments and the AI Assistent/AI Bridge window is still empty.

What's the matter?

Hell Team,

Our team consists of translators from Korean to different languages, using Trados 2022 and 2024.

We have been seeing some issues in Trados LLM translation that could be a fundamental issue to prevent us from keep using the feature.

Among them, I'd like to bring up some issues here and ask for some advice if there is any way to address them.

1. Tags/font style not reflected

- Some translations miss out the tags or do not reflect the font style (e.g., bold, italic) from the source to the target text.

- It requires extra post editing and sometimes it's more tiring than translating from the scratch without the AI engine.

2. Instruction from the prompt not implemented properly

- The representative example would be, I put in the prompt not to use 'Please' even the Korean source says ~ 하십시오 (polite way to say "to do something"), the translations come with "Please" at all time.

- This is one example, and similar issues are occurring regardless of the target language.

3. Half-width and full-width not properly implemented (It seems sort of a mixture of no.1 and 2, and occurs specifically during Korean > Japanese.)

- Punctuation marks are rather implemented better, but parenthesis, or some other symbols are not properly localized.

- I think the symbol localization is automatically applied

Please advise me if there is any way that we can address the issues and improve the quality of the AI translation with prompt enhancement, built-in Trados features, or any other settings.

Please correct me if I were wrong, but as far as I know, Trados Studio 2024 currently only supports OpenAI and Azure OpenAI, neither of which is available to Chinese users.

So, as a Chinese translator, how do I, or my team in China, make use of AI in Trados Studio?

Is there any chance Trados Studio extends the coverage of the current OpenAI Translation Provider plugin to other major AI providers, like, QWEN, DeepSeek, Claude, Gemini, or even custom models? Or develop such a plugin based on the existing one? The need for custom models would be extremely useful for companies or teams with their own AI infrastructure and model resources and prefer not to share their contents with any other LLM providers like the ones mentioned above.

You might also have a look at a tool I am developing called Supervertaler for Trados, a plugin that runs in Trados Studio 2024/2026. It has all sorts of tricks, but the main way of using it is:

- You create a project in Trados

- You have Supervertaler draft a prompt tailored to your project

- You use Supervertaler to translate your project with this prompt

(You can choose from a huge range of different online and local AI models.)

Which ist the best solution for working with AI assisted translation as a second or third source (after the translation memory and MultiTerm) integrated in Trados Studio 2024 or in the new release (Trados Studio 2026) that will be released soon (?)

Is it Trados Copilot - AI Assistant or is there already something new?

The best solution is a subjective issue in that what is best for one person isn't necessarily best for someone else. However, a few thoughts that the Community AI didn't show:

With Studio 2024, you can download the OpenAI Provider for Trados Studio app from the AppStore, and connect it to ChatGPT (note, - you'll need an account with OpenAI rather than just ChatGPT, to get the API key) - the quality then is largely driven by the prompts you write, but it can enforce use of your Termbases, so can be much better than standard NMT, so needing less post editing.
A new product - Language Weaver Pro - there's a webinar about this on the 14th May - Introducing Language Weaver Pro: Context-aware AI translation at enterprise scale which will be worth attending, and should give you even better results.
With Studio 2026 you should get the ability to connect any LLM, so depending on your situation if you've been developing your own LLM, you will then be able to connect that.

I wonder if there is a way to instruct GPT within Trados to post-edit the target translations, already translated with NMT (another provider). I am aware that you can perform this task segment by segment, using different prompts, like "Refine translations", which changes (but not always, which is annoying) the translated segment according to the project terms from the Multiterm.

But I am looking for a way to do it for the whole project at once. In batch tasks, I see the option "Pre-translate Files with AI Professional", but I don't want to resend to a NMT engine what is already pre-translated. I just need to post-edit the destination.

Is this option possible somehow?

Hi Jesse,

Yes, it handles inline tags, both in Translate and Proofread mode (under Batch operations, in the Supervertaler Assistant window).

Translate mode allows you to run batch translation on your entire project, taking the entire context term base and any TM matches into account.

Proofread mode creates a report in the Reports tab with numbered items, numbered according to the relevant segment. Clicking on these will take you to the corresponding segment. Once each of them is done in the Reports tab, you can also click them away, just like the QA system.

For example, I just AI translated the following segment (via Ctrl+T), and it automatically inserted all the tags correctly:

I'm currently working on a third, post-edit mode, but this is still in a development branch. This mode will apply AI to improve, if necessary, already translated segments and show everything with tracked changes.

As you can see from the link I posted, quite a few people are working on similar solutions. However, my thinking with Supertranslator for Trados was to keep everything as simple as possible by not asking the user to import and export all kinds of bilingual files (into and out of their CAT tools), whether Word tables or SDLXLIFF files, like CotranslatorAI and TransAide.

The beauty of my plugin is that Trados does the heavy lifting while offering an improved terminology experience and a boatload of AI tricks.

I have also implemented a context-sensitive help system. If you click the little question marks in the plugin UI, they will take you to the corresponding sections in an online help system that is constantly updated:

I like the idea that TransAIde is using by translating with full context, but it would be nice if the importing/AI translation/exporting was all automated for you.
By the way, does your plug-in handle inline tags correctly?

I haven't tested the AI Professional plug-in route yet, but I am currently working on adding a post-editing mode (with track changes support) to my Supertranslator for Trados plug-in, which already supports batch translation and proofreading (among other things) and supports multiple LLMs (via API and local). Hi Emi, I'm experiencing the exact same issue as you. I've recently started using the AI assistant (OpenAI GPT-4o model), but it doesn't seem to function as expected. The assistant completely ignores my termbase, despite my attempts to configure it properly. I've tried multiple solutions, but nothing seems to work.
Were you able to resolve this issue on your end?

Hi,

I have just startet using AI assistant (OpenAI gpt-4o model) and it is not working as it should. F. eks. in the example below it should automatically sett "lege" in stead of "dr." because this is how this term is translated in the Termbase "lek.med = lege". AI assistant is enabled with Refine translation prompt. Should it not have insertet "lege" automatically? Or have i misunderstood something?

Please, look at the printscreens below.

AI assistant is not showing that anything is wrong with the sentence, though the word dr. is an incorrect translation of lek.med and "Refine Translation" prompt is on.

lek.med exists in the activ Termbase, see: Term recognition in the first pic.

My settings are as follows: Is there anything wrong in the settings? or should I do something more than just to tick the right boxes?

Can anyone help to do this the right way?

Or paste a link to the documentation that shows the right way to do it? Thank you in advance.!

Hi, after attending a seminar on the new functionalities of Trados 2024, I was told that Trados Copilot was only available on the professional versions of Trados i.e. Teams, Accelerate or Enterprise. Now, I'm interested in using the AI assistant features and looking into getting an Azure membership. Will this feature be compatible with Trados Freelance 2024 or do I need to upgrade?
