Unable to update Trados TM

I have been trying to update my Trados TM with my SmartCat TM but I have not been able to as I got the below error message.

I am ahppy both my Trados and SmartCat TM (on email since the files are big and heavy) and would really appreciate if someone can guide me how this can be fixed.

I have noticed that some providers call their product "plugin" while others use the term "app". Is there a real difference between the concepts, or is it just a question of preference?

How to use Azure openAI in Trados Studio 2024

does anybody know which Azure openAi option we can use to only do some minor tests regarding the integration of LLM/Azure in Trados 2024 and machine translation?

There are numerous options on the Azure price list (Azure OpenAI Service – Preise | Microsoft Azure, country Germany) and we don't know which is/are suitable.

Furthermore, is there anyboday who has already set up an Azure account and can quickly guide us through this process?

Updating plugin - developer form

I have heard that there is a developer form to fill and attach plugin for signing, but it is beta access. If so, is it possible to get access to that form?

How do I update the information on my "app"?

I have at last finalized the new version of the Trados Studio manual, and now I need to update the presentation on the AppStore site. But I am totally at a loss as to where even to begin, since this is not a piece of software, and all the information I can find relate to software.

But in fact, even if my "app" were software, I might very well be in the situation where all I wanted to do was to change parts of the presentation. And I cannot find any place to do that. (On previous occasions, I usually managed to find the right starting place and go on from there. Not so anymore.)

Can LLM suggestions take my TMs into account?

Hi,

My company wil soon test the OpenAI provider in Trados. We're configuring Azure endpoints that we'll use for these tests. We're now looking at how to integrate our ressources in the suggestions. I know there is an checkbox we can check to include the terminolgy from our termbases in the suggestions. However, it's not clear to me if there is a similar option where the suggestion would consider our translation memories to suggest segments with the "voice" of our company. Is there such an option, or do we have to configure our LLM on our side to do it?

Cannot set up/get AI assistant to work

Hi,

I upgraded to Trados Studio 2024 at the ATA conference, mainly because of the AI functionality. But I am unable to get it to work. I have tried to follow the documentation for the plugin: https://appstore.rws.com/Plugin/249?tab=documentation. I have a paid version of ChatGPT 40, and can generate an API without problems, but when inserting it, t he connection is not established. See screenshot:

I also read this: https://docs.rws.com/en-US/trados-studio-2024-1145319/setting-up-and-configuring-ai-assistant-1152152 But the connection is just not established.

Looking forward to any explanation and instructions.

Does the Antidote Verifier plugin support the new Antidote 12? I am using Studio 2021 SR2. I have already asked Druide, the makers of Antidote, but they are deferring to RWS for confirming the plugin compatibility, as Trados AppStore is the author of the plugin.

Error when adding DeepL as a translation resource

I am having an unknown problem with installing Deepl plugin (Trados 2022 version).

I have downloaded DeepL plugin of the corresponding version, but when adding it in the Project settings, the following message appears:

I uninstalled and installed the plugin twice, but the problem persists.

Any idea on what could cause it?

Can't connect to AzureOpenAI in AI Professional - An Error occured while sending the request.

We are trying to set up AI Professional in Trados Studio 2022, using the provider AzureOpenAI. I've entered our endpoint and the API-key. When I click the button Test Connection, I receive the message: An Error occured while sendig the request (see screenshot below).

We already followed the steps in community.rws.com/.../does-the-ai-professional-plugin-work-with-my-own-endpoint

What did we miss? Please advise.

Trados / Star Transit: Adding a space at the end of every sentence

Dear Community,

I recently started working for a client who uses Star CLM/Transit as CAT-Tool, whereas I use Trados Studio.

Using the Star Transit Package Handler plugin, I am able to import the Transit packages my client sends me, translate it in Trados, et send back a Transit return package.

My client has now told me that everytime they import my return package, they need to manually add an empty space at the end of every sentence, as Star CLM/Transit doesn't automatically add an empty space between each sentence/segment (which is standard for other CAT Tools like Trados).

I was hoping someone could help me find a solution, since my client is asking me to fix this as they don't want to perform this manual action each time I deliver a translation?

Adding an empty space when I'm translating in Trados also isn't a suitable solution for me, as it will populate my TM with "faulty" segments (and I also believe that it wouldn't work).

Fiter funtion of GlossaryConverter doesn't filter term level

currently, I'm trying to convert a tbx file with GlossaryConverter (vesion 6.4.8912.38944) into a Passolo glossary. But, I want only forbidden terms in that glossary. Therefore, I'm using the filter "German (Germany).Term.Status = "forbidden", which seams to work in general.

Unfortunately, in the glossary are not the terms from term level, which have the status "forbidden", but the entry level "term".

To clarify, what I mean, please have a look a the following excerpt:

But the glossary does not contain "Dueker". Instead, it contains "Düker".

Please be so kind to let me know, how to use the filter to get only "Dueker" in the glossary, not "Düker".

Could someone explain how the vendor system works? I'd like to sell Trados products through my channels, but I'm confused about the process.

So:

1. I receive better discounts from other companies than the ones I have as a vendor here. Why is that?

2. How can I engage in selling your product, do you have any guidances step by step?

Wanted: Filtering for new apps + the Review function

It used to be possible to filter the plugins for, e.g., Last updated, Most recent, Top rated. For a long time now, nothing like this has been possible. Currently the user has no idea at all as to the order in which the plugins are listed (except of course if one filters according to the categories which are offered under the Search plugin field). I think it would be very useful to be able to see both which are totally new and which have been updated. I have been asking for this for a very long time and remember being told that it would happen. But when?

Also I sorely miss the review function, not only because my manual had received a number of very positive reviews, but mainly because many of the questions which people used to post there were very useful. I realise that the RWS AppStore forum offers much the same service -- but in a much more roundabout way. I would welcome back the reviews that got lost during the reorganisation of the AppStore functionality; I hope they are not irretrievably gone.

Desktop Studio 2024: which Language Weaver provider to add as a TM.

In Studio 2024 (which comes with Language Weaver app pre-installed), I'm adding Language Weaver as a TM in my project.
I'm offered a choice of Language Weaver Cloud and Language Weaver Edge. I don't know which to choose. The window gives a short description of the two, but I'd like to learn more about the differences. LW Edge sounds more secure if it's in a private environment, but it doesn't mention "adaptive". Does that mean it won't use my termbases and the Cloud will? How exactly do they differ?
I can't find any more details about this in the help files.

Unable to use new AI capabilities

Hi all! So I upgraded to 2024 and was all excited with the idea of using the new AI capabilities. I opened an OpenAI acount, but when I try entering my API key in OpenAI Provider for Trados, I'm always getting a "Connection Failed" message with error code "-2146233088". That's as far as I could get. Any help fixing this would be much appreciated.

How perform Smart Review in 2024?

that "As a reminder, Smart Review is available for all product offerings for an associated fee.".

The questions are:

1. how much does it cost?
2. how to pay?
3. who to pay?
4. where can I find more information about this?

Or does it just refer to the additional costs associated with Azure? In any case, the documentation is quite laconic. I don't know how to configure it to make it work.

When I click the button "Evaluate segment" there's message "You do not have the necessary permissions to perform a Smart Review."

How to make this thing working?

One more thing, there's: "Smart Review gathers data from your linguistic resources that can be used to construct a prompt for the AI: a persona, the terminology preferred, similar translated documents or extractions from the translation memory using preferred style or tone, the instructions of what your goal is and the current translation."

What is "linguistic resources" (in Trados' settings, f.e in TM, there's language resources not linguistic resources) and where/how to setup these resources to be sent to LLM?

BTW: MTQE is not available when working offline only, is that correct?

Trados Subtitling Preview Bug

Hello,

I'm trying to resolve a bug related to Trados Subtitling. It occurs when I click on the settings button in subtitling preview - it makes Trados freeze and crash immediately (as shown on the screen capture).

Before that, when I open an .srt file, I also get the error message : "the object reference is not set to an instance."

I should also mention that I'm using Trados 2022 (SR2 version) free trial version.

Could someone please help me fix the issue?

Is Wordcount copy for studio 2019 no more available in RWS appstore?

I'd been looking for some 2019 plugins I used in Studio 2017, but I found there's no support for Studio 2019 in particular apps. (like Integrated serch views (RWS AppStore), Wordcount copy (RWS AppStore))

Can I get archived versions for these apps?

I am pretty sure there were versions for 2019 in SDL appstore and I really need these ones.

XLIFF Manager export failed

I am experiencing a problem with exporting sdlxliff file to xliff in Xliff Manager. I am probbably doing something wrong as it is the first time.
My clinet sent me a source file and a target file in power point for reviewing. This is a direct client. They want one file back in xlf. format.
I aligned both document and after saving it as sdlxliff I was trying to test convert it to xliff to see if the client can open it on their side.

However, I get en error message without any explanation why.

This is what I was doing. Please, look at the video. Have I done something wrong?
