Tridion Docs REST API endpoint to update content as new version

I'm trying to use this endpoint to update content

PUT/v3/DocumentObjects/ByLanguageCardId/{LanguageCardId}/Content

Updates the document object content by its language card identifier.

It works, but it overwrites existing version. How can I also rev the version during the update process?

I did see another endpoint to create new version:

POST/v3/DocumentObjects/Versions

Creates document object version. - NOT IMPLEMENTED

But it says not implemented. Does that mean I cannot use the REST APIs to update content of existing object as new version?

File translation thru API using VBA

Hi All,

I want to translate a file using API and thru VBA. I could translate text. But in case of file translation, I am unable to pass the file name/path.

Please guide me how to pass the input filename/path in the body of the API.

A sample VBA code will be useful.

You can find relevant documenation and samples written in .net C#. We don't provide code samples in VBA, but that shouldn't stop you from converting the code to VBA for your integration requirements.

In API is not possibility how to add other target language to the project too. I will probably realy have to combine the solution with direct xml editing.

import/add another .sdlppx to Trados project - Automation API

Hello,

I can't find out how to import/add other .sdlppx to Trados project.

Example:

Client send me more .sdlppx from one Trados project (split project according target language). I need join/merge this .sdlppx to one project.

At first I create project from one package:

ProjectPackageImport packageimport = new ProjectPackageImport();

FileBasedProject project = FileBasedProject.CreateFromProjectPackage("projectPackageFilePath", "projectFolder" , out packageimport);

How Can I import/add others .sdlppx to project.

Unfortunately, no, I don't see any other simpler way.

Through the API, all you can do is create a project from one of the packages and add all the files from all the other packages to it.

Here's a link to a code sample on how to do that.

Thanks for information. I have the same opinion.

So, it’s mean creates first project from package.

Then create temporary projects form others .sdlppx or directly read xml of .sdlppx and move data/information (TMs, TBs, references and source file) to project. But I have concerns when I import source file by “automation Trados API” the files gets different GUID. If GUID will be different, there will be problem with return package for client from this merged project. So maybe I should copy source files "manually" and move information directly from xml (.sdlppx) to xml (.sdlproj).

Do you see a simpler solution?

Through the Trados API, I'm afraid that this is not possible.

What you could do, is open all the packages, then add their files into one of them.

I'll probably go a different way then with my design and let the user choose the relevant translation from my UI rather that the Translation Results part which I find always rather slow responding for the first selection change.

How can I get the Selected translation result?

When in the editor I can get retrieve the current TM matches like this:

        {
            ...

While I can then access all of the results I cannot see which one is currently selected. By default it is the first one (results.LookupResults[0]) but of course the user may select a different one.

Is there there a way to determine this via the API?

Hi Angela Sigee , I don't see a way to access the SelectedIndexChanged or potentially a Selected property available from the Sdl.TranslationStudioAutomation.IntegrationApi.Editor.TranslationResults.TranslationResults.SegmentAndSubsegmentSearchResultsMerged collection.

I recommend to add this as an ehancement idea to the public API for Trados Studio from here: community.rws.com/.../trados-studio

There is another solution, using this endpoint:

/multiterm/api/1.0/termbases/findtermsex?srcLangCode={sourceLang}&trgLangCode={targetLang}&query={searchQuery}&tbGuid={tbGuid}

This works very well, giving a response like this:

For this call, you need to have the tbGuid, which you can get by making these calls:

1. GetOrganizations: /api/management/v2/organizations
In the response, you get the id of the organization which the relevant termbase belongs to.

2. GetOrganizationResources: /api/management/v2/organizationresources?organizationId={orgId}&resourceType=tb
In the response, you get the tbGuid which you need for the FindTermsEx call above.

Get target term with GroupShare REST API

Hi All,

I looking for a way to get the target term in a entry. Using the '/multiterm/api/1.0/termbases/search' I'm only able to receive back the source term for the source language 'srcLangId'. I've tried to use the param 'trgLangId' but the result is the same.

The response has only the value for 'termText' for the source language.

Maybe the 'trgLangId' field has another purpose...

Hello!

Could you share an example of the call you're making and the response?

In the meantime, you could try to use the trgLangId as the srcLangId and see whether that works.
As a termbase can have more than two languages, I am not sure they are treated differently.

Also, there's another endpoint that you can use:

 /multiterm/api/1.0/termbases/findterms?tid={tid}&srcLangCode={srcLangCode}&query={query}

This one worked for me, and I was able to get a termText for any language. Unfortunately, it takes just a srcLangCode as a parameter so I had to use it for each language separately.

Using the crendetial store...etc was not the issue, but I have already tied to callback to the main thread, but it caused deadlock. I haven't thought about creating new STA thread and waiting for that to finish to solve this. It really helped.

Terminology provider connection issue

Dear RWS,

I have created a custom terminology provider for Studio 2022, 2021 and 2019. It connects to a remote web service and use that as a source. When the studio loads the terminology provider, if the service is not available, user not available...etc the plugin display a Window, in which the user can try to login. In studio 2022 everything works fine, but in Studio 2019, it fails to load the terminology provider, because when the plugin tries to display the UI to login, it throws an error "calling thread must be STA". In Studio 2022 this error is also thrown, but after the first error, studio API tries once again and it successfully display the login UI. Thus I thought this is a fallback mechanism from studio side, if this error is cacthed then it retries to create the provider from the STA thread. I beleived in this, because it is quite a common scenario, if i remember well, if i add a server based MultiTerm termbase, and if the server is not available it also display a similar login window. However finding that 2019 studio works differently, it questions my beleif about that it is an on purpose fallback mechanism.

Can you advise about this?

Hi Balázs Fehér , so your concern is if you provide a project to a user with a reference to the terminology provider, then they would need to be presented with window asking them to provide credentials, correct?

You can approach this in two ways.

1. Instruct the user to edit the provider settings (from the projects settings) and provide valid credentials. The credentials should then be persisted in the credential store, that is managed by the Trados Studio context.

2. Attempt to load a form that enables the user to provide credentials when the provider is loaded into context (i.e. the factory implementation). The following is a basic example of how you might go about implementing this.

Note: you should not see an STA threading error with this basic implementation using winForms. If you do, then I would try 'n create a separate thread + set the appartment state (example: thread.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA))

I can move the UI up there (already changed in the git source). I understand the logic behind separation, but I didn't see it would help in my case. It still won't be on the STA threads when a file is opened, thus on opening the file we cannot "reconnect" to the provider.

Thus it is not possible to mimic MT behaviour? For MT it has been solved "in house" to work like that, but this is not possible for custom providers (at the moment).
