Missing products in RWS AppStore

We want to publish a new version of our AppSTore product. The supported products drop-down is incomplete and doesn't show the new "Passolo 2022" product. Can someone at RWS please fix it?

Can files be synchronized/managed (automatically) between development and translation management/localization system? If so, how could this be done/look like?

Passolo SDK Enumerate source assembly (exe, dll)

I am using Passolo Pro 2018 and the Passolo .NET SDK. I am creating an export add-in.

I can’t figure out how to enumerate the assemblies (exe, dll) and resource dlls using the SDK like Passolo does.

In Passolo, I could see the folder path and file name of the assemblies. (see screen shot)

How could I do this using the SDK?

I would like to get this information for all the sources so I could read some custom binary data without creating another add-in.

Can Achim Herrmann help here?

Reading Binary Resources with Passolo Export Addin

I am using Passolo Pro 2018 and I am writing an export Addin. I have an MFC project build with VS2017 and it contains a custom binary resource “SYMBOLIC_RESOURCE_IDS”. If I enable Extract other binary resources on the project in Passolo my export Addin sees the resource and could process the data. The problem is when I enable that project setting it also make binary resources that I do not want to see visible like PNG and AFX_DIALOG_LAYOUT.

Is there a way to have my export Addin see only the custom binary resource I want without making the others visible?
Is it possible to enable the project setting in the SDK (Export other binary resources) read the custom binary resource then disable the project setting?
Do I need to also write a parser Adding to accomplish this? I would rather not have to write a parser Addin

I am using Passolo Pro 2018 and the Passolo .NET SDK.

I am creating an export add-in and have trouble call methods

CPAIStringList.GetProperty()
CPAIStringList.GetResFile()

I tried calling CPAIStringList.GetProperty() and CPAIStringList.GetResFile() from my IPAINetExportWriter.Write() method.

var sourceFile = stringList.GetProperty("SLPROP_SOURCEFILE"); //did not work

var sourceFile = stringList.GetProperty("65535"); //did not work

what string should I pass into the stringList.GetProperty method.

I also tried calling CPAIStringList.GetResFile()

stringList.GetResFile(Addin, enmResFileStoreType.SourceList, "MCCADRes"); // did not work

I am not sure what string I should pass in for the last parameter. Below is a screen shot of my Passolo Project I am using with the export add-in

Your initial request that talks about Export Add-Ins and custom binary resource in one single post confused me. At least I can answer the basic questions:

In the Write() function of an Export Add-In you can get the source file name by

string sourcefile = (string)stringlist.GetFileOptions().GetProperty(CustFileProperty.SourceFile);

and the target file name by

string targetfile = (string)stringlist.GetFileOptions().GetProperty(CustFileProperty.TargetFile);

The stringlist.GetResFile(CPAIAddIn addin, enmResFileStoreType type, string name) function retrieves the path of a file that has been stored to the project with SLStoreResFile(). The path is in the temporary folder that is created by Passolo to unpack the project files.

To use this function you first must be sure that the corresposnding parser has used SLStoreResFile(). You must excatly know the file name that was used by SLStoreResFile() and pass it in the name parameter, otherwise the result of stringlist.GetResFile() will be an empty string.

Ok, I understand I need to create a custom resource add-in to read the binary data. For my information could you tell me how to programmatically access the source and target files from an export add-in. I may need the source and target file names for other information.

Even if you would be able to programmatically access the source and target files and read the custom binary data you are looking for, you never will be able to insert this data into the Passolo project for translation. The Export Add-in interface simply doesn’t have such methods.

As already mentioned implementing a Custom Resource Add-in is the only way to solve this issue.

First I need to clarify some terms. SDL Passolo Export Add-ins implement the SDK functions PAIFN_GetExpImpData() and PAIFN_GetExportWriter() and are developed to export data from Passolo translation lists into files that can be exchanged with translators. So nothing that is related to parse user defined resources in executables.

As mentioned you are localizing MFC application using the Win32 parser. Developers sometimes introduce user defined resources. The naming is arbitrary, in your case SYMBOLIC_RESOURCE_IDS. If I understand it correctly the content is binary and you need to localize this content. There are 2 possible solution approaches:

1: Convince your developers to move from binary content to text or XML content

SDL Passolo supports cascaded parsing. That means that the EXE or DLL file is parsed using the Win32 parser. In case of unknown resources (not Menu, Dialog, StringTable, etc.) nothing is extracted. Using some configuration settings in the project users are able to cascade unknown resources to other parsers like the HTML, XML and Text parser. While the file is still parsed with the Win32 parser some of the resources will be handled with i.e. the Text parser to extract the localizable content. This will reduce your effort to solve the problem as the configuration will just take an hour.

2: Implement a Custom Resource Add-In

Instead of an Export Add-In you have to develop a Custom Resource Add-in that implements the SDK functions PAIFN_RscCheckType() and the PAIFN_RscScan(). This will allows you to selectively just handle the SYMBOLIC_RESOURCE_IDS resource type, parse its resources and convert its content into translatable text and insert these string entries into the Passolo project for translation. Effort is much higher but will also allow to implement user defined visualization if necessary using the PAIFN_CreateCustomControls() function.

Not the solution but at least 2 possible methods to go forward.

I'm taking over our company SDL account that a programmer setup for us. We have this MT Provider listed on the AppStore: http://appstore.sdl.com/app/slate-desktop-translation-provider/535/

I've been able to sign-in using the company's account and changed many account values. However, these updates are not showing in the AppStore. Also, I can't find a place to change values for URLs. I was able to disable the former employee's personal email account, but I would like to remove it altogether. Where can I change all these hidden values?

It would be good if the SDL business systems are better connected. I changed everything in my OOS account and thought that this will be sufficient. For weeks I now had to constantly chase SDL to do the changes.

I haven’t developed an export add-in for a while so I can’t give you any code sample beyond what is available in the SDK samples.

#1)

The CPAIExportOptions.TokenInFilter method is referring to the Write option in the Export wizard page (see below). This allows to do some basic filters and when starting the Export wizard from the translation list view, you can do any filtering in the list and then use the …that are currently displayed option. In addition you can further filter strings by implementing export add-in specific filters and store them in export settings like the option in the TMS export.

#2)

This cannot be configured in the add-in itself, as it is a user setting that can be set in the export wizard, Depending on fact if the export is started from the project view or if the export is started from the translation list view. You can just read the users Write option while exporting.

#3)

Yes, the export procedure will be able to check the token status and then just export deleted string entries (from the recycle bin).

I am working on an export plugin and I would like to present the user with the exports options and I have the following questions.

1) I see there is a CPAIExportOptions.TokenInFilter method, but how do you configure what is in the filter in using the SDK?

2) I see in the Passolo UI when using an export plugin you have the options to write

all strings
or all strings and deleted strings

How can you configure this using the SDK?

3) Is there a way to get only deleted strings or string in the Passolo trash bin using the SDK?
