If you are using Trados Studio for the first time, we would recommend you specify your settings and resources.

The basic settings will include Languages, translation memories and termbases.

You can do this easily via File > Options (Global Settings*)

The basic settings are your required Language pair(s)

Translation Memory

and termbase

You can update, adapt or change these Global Settings at any time.

Changes made will apply to new projects only- existing projects will retain the previous settings.

You can watch a short video, showing you how to create your resources and settings here.
